The National Nutrition Council’s commitment to conform to high quality standards paid off as the agency achieved re-certification of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008, during the conduct of the 1st Surveillance Audit of TUV Rheinland on May 5, 2016.
Mr. Jayzer Aquino together with Ms. Kharen Tan-Concepcion, Mr. Lionell Aala and Mr. Roy Alminanza led the NNC’s external certification body – TUV Rheinland, Philippines in conducting the 1st Surveillance Audit of Site 1 - NNC-Central Office and Site 3 – CALABARZON.
This audit aims to validate conformity of the NNC to the requirements set by ISO through the effective implementation of the NNC Quality Management System.
Since NNC committed to the ISO mandate since 2015, the auditors found zero Nonconformity, thus recommending the retention of the ISO 9001:2008 certification.
Among the positive findings highlighted were the observed commitment and engagement of the top management in the implementation of the QMS and good housekeeping and maintenance of building facility/work areas. They also noted NNC's numerous awards and recognition having been a finalist in the 24th Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas in the Best Public Service Announcement (Radio Category) and the 10th UPLB Isko't Iska's Multi-media Choice Awards with Assistant Secretary of Health and Executive Director Maria-Bernardita T. Flores as Best AM Program Host and the Radyo Mo sa Nutrisyon episode on Nutritional Guidelines Para sa Pinoy na Muslim, as Best AM Program. Overall, NNC also earned the “Best Category” on the agency performance as validated by the DBM/AO25 Secretariat.
NNC was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certificate on June 25, 2015 during its 41st anniversary and will be valid for three (3) years subject to renewal after annual surveillance audit. The next surveillance audit is due on May 8, 2017.
