nobnsAfter a rigorous selection process among the 42,000 Barangay Nutrition Scholars deployed nationwide by the interagency Regional Nutrition Evaluation Teams, 14 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (ROBNS) were identified.  Of the 14, the top eight Regional Outstanding BNSs now compete for the honor of being recognized as the “2015 National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar”.

The eight BNSs vying for the recognition are: 1). Ms. Dolores S. Amorin of Barangay Paoa, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur; 2). Ms. Jenifer B. Gabilo of Barangay Sumnanga, Sabtang, Batanes; 3). Mr. Danilo Posion of Barangay Iruhin Central, Tagaytay City; 4) Ms. Mary Karen V. Dueñas of Barangay Bagong Sikat, Lubang, Occidental Mindoro; 5). Ms. Saloma I. Zamora of Barangay Mabini J. Rizal, Mandaluyong City; 6). Ms. Wedona B. Ariola of Barangay Quitago, Guinobatan, Albay; 7). Ms. Alejandra V. Igbacol of Barangay Sta. Theresa, Jordan, Guimaras; and 8) Ms. Evangeline Galan of Barangay Panadtalan, Maramag, Bukidnon. 

The Search for the National Outstanding BNS aims to assess the performance of the BNS and recognize those with exceptional performance in the delivery of basic nutrition and nutrition-related services in his/her barangay leading to its improved nutrition.

Assistant Secretary of Health and NNC Executive Director Maria-Bernardita T. Flores leads the interagency National Evaluation Team. The NET looks at efficiency, innovativeness and impact of various nutrition projects initiated and managed by the BNS. The Search will run from from August to October.

The top three winners will be given each a trophy and certificate of recognition and cash prize during the 2016 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony in December in Manila.
