Another job excellently done! The country’s cream of the crop local government units and nutrition workers will gather together at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on 13 December during the 2016 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony. About 500 guests are expected to participate in this year’s much-awaited recognition rites.

Topping the list of winners across the five different award categories are the cities of Cauayan in Isabela (Region 2), Mandaluyong (NCR), and Valencia City in Bukidnon (Region 10), which will be conferred the Nutrition Honor Award (NHA). The NHA is the highest distinction in nutrition conferred by the interagency National Nutrition Council for LGUs able to sustain improvement in the nutritional status of their constituents for 6 consecutive years. NHA awardees each receive a trophy and cash incentive of P1,000,000.

Second Year CROWN Maintenance Award

An equally important highlight of this year’s National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony is the conferment of the 2015 National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (NOBNS) to Mr. Danilo N. Posion, of Barangay Iruhin Central, Tagaytay City.

BNS Posion bested 42,000 other BNSs deployed nationwide with no runner-ups declared for 2015. BNS Posion will receive the NOBNS trophy and cash prize amounting to P150,000 in recognition of his exemplary efforts to promote good nutrition in his community.

The NHA, CROWN Maintenance, and NOBNS awardees were evaluated from April to October 2016, endorsed by the interagency National Nutrition Evaluation Team to, and confirmed by the NNC Technical Committee. The CROWN awardees were deliberated by the respective Regional Nutrition Evaluation Teams, and confirmed by the Regional Nutrition Committees.

This year’s awardees will be recognized by no less than Cabinet Secretary Leoncio B. Evasco, Jr. representing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
