Contact signing with ABSCBNA new television show that will focus on the First 1000 Days is currently being developed by the National Nutrition Council in partnership with the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation. Contract signing was held recently at the ABS-CBN main office to solidify this collaboration. Lingkod Kapamilya Managing Director Susan Afan and NNC’s Chief of Nutrition Information and Education Division Jovita Raval were present during the activity.

In the TV program with working title “RickyPedia”, viewers follow the story of Dr. Enrico Santos, a pediatrician and single father who works at the Masigla Health Center. The cast of characters also includes, among others, Ricky’s only son Johann, a medical intern named Sonya, her mother and barangay captain Kapitana Cora, and the hopeless romantic teacher Julia.

“RickyPedia” infuses a classic teleserye format with practical and informative guidelines on nutrition, health, education and care in the First 1000 Days of Life. While it still revolves around the life of Ricky as a father to his son and as a doctor caring for the numerous people living in Barangay Masigla, along the way he will be providing interesting and important nutrition facts aimed at the viewers. Every week the viewers will be meeting more and more of the barangay’s residents, as each one shall be featured for the episode of that week. Episodes will cover topics such as the importance of complementary feeding, nutrition during pregnancy and psychosocial stimulation of young children. The show will also feature interviews and segments with real life experts explaining the scientific and technical aspect of what Dr. Ricky had done. The show is one of the components of the Early Childhood Care and Development Intervention Package for the First 1000 Days or F1K Program. The First 1000 Days is globally considered as the golden window of opportunity to achieve a person’s full physical and economic potential. The First 1000 Days starts from conception until the second birthday of the child.

This is not the first time the National Nutrition Council has branched out into television. Avid viewers will remember “Why Not?”, the nutrition-centric program for children and families that ran for 3 multi-awarded seasons several years ago and currently being re-aired over Channel 2.

The ABS-CBN Network will air the show, while the National Nutrition Council and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation will collaborate for the production of the season’s 25-episode run.

“RickyPedia” is currently in production and is set to air by mid-June 2017.
