10 December 2013, Maitum, Sarangani – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) XII in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Maitum headed by their Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Ildefonso O. Bergis, conducted three concurrent activities: Orientation on Child Growth Standards (CGS), Promotion of Good Nutrition (PGN) Monitoring and the launching of the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos.

45 participants composed of Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Nurses, Rural Health Midwives and Health Service Providers convened during the said activities held at the Conference Room of Maitum Municipal Hall. The CGS Orientation and NGF Launching was presented by Ms. Hannah Leah M. Bautista, Nutrition Officer II of NNC XII, while Ms. Lani Sondia, Administrative Aide VI, conducted the interview for the PGN monitoring to the trained BNSs and midwives who were present during the orientation. The said monitoring is being conducted to determine the current status of PGN programs and its outcomes in relation to the implementation of the program starting last 2007 as a component of the Accelerated Hunger Mitigation Program (AHMP).

During the CGS orientation, Ms. Bautista discussed the three modules followed by the brief discussion of the revised OPT Plus Forms and automated BNS tool. Subsequently, NGF was launched by presenting each of the updated ten messages and was immediately followed by the pledging of commitment and ceremonial signing led by Sangguniang Bayan Member – Vice Chair on Health Jess C. Bascuña and MNAO Bergis.
