In this fight against COVID19, NNC-CAR honors every Local Government Units, National Government Agencies, Non-Government Organizations, Civic Groups, Private Entities and other offices in their contribution to nutrition especially to the Local Nutrition Action Officers, District Nutrition Program Coordinator and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
The region under Enhanced Community Quarantine requires and encourages work from home however, nutrition workers are not called to stay at home but they are mobilized to provide services in their respective areas. They are part of the skeletal workforce that ensures our safety amid this health crisis. Their services have gone beyond their description most especially our Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
Among the services they render are attending needs in the triage area, helping in the checkpoints, providing quarantine pass, repacking and distributing relief food and vegetables in their barangay and part of the team in monitoring persons suspected to have contracted the virus. They also join the team going around to distribute seeds and vitamin supplements to houses especially those with undernourished children and pregnant and lactating women. They continue to encourage mothers to breastfeed and practice proper complementary feeding. They ensure that children 2 years and below are given optimum nutrition.
In addition to their nutrition services, nutrition workers also join the house-to-house giving out and validating applications forms for the Social Amelioration Program (SAP). They are on the front lines to ensure that priority families are included in the SAP.
The great contribution of the Nutrition workers we consider as nutrition heroes should not go unrecognized. Providing care and services in times like this poses a major security risk to their lives. NNC-CAR would like to commend our nutrition heroes for their sacrifices and efforts.
Salute to all nutrition professionals!
