The “Taal Disaster Response” experience paved the way for the development of new Information Management (IM) tools and other information materials for use in evacuation centers to respond more efficiently and more effectively to the nutritional needs of recipients during disasters and emergencies.
Nutrition Databoard
One of the Information Management (IM) tools developed by the Calabarzon RNC is the Nutrition Databoard. They are placed in the entrance of evacuation centers to ensure that duplications of data sources are avoided and all target groups are covered.

Tuguegarao City--- Cagayan Valley Baragay Nutrition Scholars Federation Inc., (CVBNSF Inc.) extended P10, 000.00 financial assistance to victims of taal volcano eruption through Project Tala organized by BolunTurismo PH.
BolunTurismo PH which started in 2016 is a small organization composed of young professionals with the same heart to reach more children in need while exploring the wonders of the Philippines. Funds are coming from individuals who have the same heart to help.
Last month, the team launched a project dubbed as, "PROJECT TALA: Para sa mga Naantala ng Taal A Donation Drive for the Affected Families" which aims to deliver basic services and relief good to families affected by taal eruption.

Proclamation NO. 157 declares February as the National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month. This year’s theme: “Ipadama ang pagmamahal at atensyon sa mga People with Down Syndrome”. The message focuses on sharing love and attention to People with Down Syndrome.
One way of showing love and attention is to give importance to their Nutritional needs.
Nutrition for People with Down Syndrome involves the development of feeding skills, prevention of obesity, prevention of nutritional deficiency.
- Aided feeding is required. Training to help the patient control the tongue and keep the mouth closed when eating is needed.
- As the child becomes older, fiber and fluid in the diet may be increased to avoid constipation.
- To reduce dental problems, foods high in sucrose, including sweet, sticky snacks, should be eliminated.
- A soft diet may be necessary because of tooth loss, but the intake of fresh fruits and vegetables should be increased if possible.
Eventually, many People with Down Syndrome make a transition to independent living but they need help in food selection and preparation for maintaining good nutritional status.

National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region VI holds the 1st Quarter Meeting of the Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (P/C/MNAOs) and District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPCs) on the 18th day of February 2020 at Panaderia de Iloilo, Arevalo, Iloilo City. The updates presented on the Management Conference last February 10-14, 2020 were relayed. There were exchanges of ideas, suggestions, and inquiries of the participants during the meeting.
