The National Nutrition Council Caraga, spearheaded by OIC RNPC Retsebeth Laquihon, in collaboration with the NNC Nutrition Information & Education Division represented by the National Focal Person for Nutriskwela NO II Katherine Villanueva-Bucton, conducted a Refresher & Orientation on the Management of Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program on January 26, 2021 via Zoom Video Conferencing.
The refresher/orientation aims to orient the new radio staff and to review the guidelines on the management of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations in Caraga Region.
All 3 Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations in Caraga Region attended the activity, namely: (1) Radyo Kaagapay in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur represented by Station Manager Elizabeth Badajos; (2) Radyo Kabakhawan in Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte represented by Station Manager Elwin Argana and Program Manager Aljon Judilla; (3) Radyo Kinaiyahan in Malimono, Surigao del Norte represented by Radio Technician Michael Albia.
The radio personnel were refreshed/oriented on the Operation, Management & Maintenance of Nutriskwela Station in the New Normal Setting, the Nutriskwela Community Radio Station Editorial & Station Policy, Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting, the Strengthening of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Council, and on the strategies on the New Media and Social Networking Site. NNC Caraga and its network of Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations, amidst the present challenges, aims to strengthen the use of radio broadcast and social networking to ensure updated sharing of information on nutrition and on the COVID-19 updates.
NNC Caraga sincerely thank the local chief executives and partner SUCs for the continued support on the operation and maintenance of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations.

Radyo Katilingban

Region XII - Sultan Kudarat State University, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat
Tacurong City is a 3rd class city in the province of Sultan Kudarat. It is composed of 20 barangays.
The 2015 Census of Population conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that Tacurong City has a total population of 98,316. This population is distributed over 153.40 square kilometers of land.
The city services the needs of 15 neighboring municipalities. People from these areas go to Tacurong City to sell their products, purchase their needs, pursue education, avail of medical and health services, and seek recreation. As an important hub of the Mindanao transport grid, Tacurong City is visited by numerous passengers and transients on their way to the cities of Davao, Cotabato, General Santos and even Cagayan de Oro.
The Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) is the only state university of tertiary education in the Province of Sultan Kudarat. It prides itself as a trailblazer in arts, science and technology in the region.
In 2010, Radyo Katilingban was established by the National Nutrition Council in partnership with the SKSU under the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program Phase II. “Katilingban” is an Ilonggo word for community.
At the time of its establishment, the prevalence of underweight among pre-school children was at 9.36%. As of 2018, the prevalence of underweight was at 5.05% (Operation Timbang Plus, NNC).
DXNP-FM 98.9 RADYO KATILINGBAN is located at Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) Access Campus, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat. It began broadcasting on 11 January 2011.
The NNC upgraded Radyo Katilingban’s transmitter in 2015. From 100 watts, the transmitter is now 300 watts with Effective Radiated Power (ERP) of 600 watts. The radio station can be clearly heard in all barangays of the city.

Radyo Kalumonan
DXNQ-FM 97.3 MHz
Region XI - San Isidro, Davao Oriental
San Isidro is a 4th class municipality in the province of Davao Oriental. It is composed of 16 barangays.
The 2015 Census of Population conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that San Isidro has a total population of 36,032. This population is distributed over 220.44 square kilometers of land.
San Isidro is one of Davao Oriental’s “gulf towns” with shorelines stretching along Davao Gulf.
The Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology (DOSCST) San Isidro Campus was established in 1997 as an extension campus. The main campus is in Mati City. The DOSCST, established in 1989, is a conversion from the Mati Community College in response to a need for quality tertiary education in the province.
In 2010, Radyo Kalumonan was established by the National Nutrition Council in partnership with the DOSCST and the Kalumonan Development Center Incorporated (KDCI), (a non-government organization) under Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program Phase II. “Kalumonan” brotherhood in the Cebuano dialect.
During its establishment, the prevalence of underweight among pre-school children was at 4.38%. As of 2018, the prevalence of underweight is at 0.78% (Operation Timbang Plus, NNC).
DXNQ-FM 97.3 RADYO KALUMONAN is located at the Faculty Building in San Isidro Campus, Barangay Poblacion, Bato-bato, San Isidro, Davao Oriental. It began airing on 09 November 2010.
Through funds provided by the Municipal Government of San Isidro, Radyo Kalumonan’s transmitter was upgraded in 2017. From 100 watts,the transmitter is now 300 watts with Estimated Radiated Power (ERP) of 600 watts. The radio station can be clearly heard in 2 out of 16 barangays of the municipality.

Radyo Kalugaran

Region II - Claveria, Cagayan
Claveria is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Cagayan. It is composed of 41 barangays.
The 2015 Census of Population conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that Claveria has a total population of 29,921. This population is distributed over 194.80 square kilometers of land.
Claveria is blessed with a wealth of scenic attractions which include the Lakay-lakay Lagoon, the rocky formation along the Camalaggaon Caves, the Roadside Park overlooking Claveria Bay, Macatel Falls with its crystal waters that run in abundance throughout the year, the Pata Lighthouse that offers a breathtaking experience, and the Claveria Beach Resort along the serene white sand coasts.
In 2010, Radyo Kalugaran was established by the National Nutrition Council in partnership with the Municipal Government of Claveria and Claveria Grassroots Multi-Purpose Cooperative under Phase II of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program. “Kalugaran” is an Ilocano word for townmate.
During its establishment, the prevalence of underweight among pre-school children was at 5.95%. As of 2018, the prevalence of underweight is at 0.93% (Operation Timbang, NNC).
DZND-FM 97.7 RADYO KALUGARAN is located at Bureau of Telecommunications Building, Provincial Road, Centro I, Claveria, Cagayan. It began airing on 5 January 2011.
The NNC upgraded Radyo Kalugaran’s transmitter in 2016. From 100 watts, the transmitter is now 300 watts with Effective Radiated Power (ERP) of 600 watts
