Baguio City – Rita D. Papey of NNC CAR oriented the newly elected municipal and city mayors of Cordillera during the Basic Orientation for Local Chief Executives organized by DILG-CAR. “ Nutrition program is a program that does not belong to a single agency but a concern of all branches of government and that the support of the mayor is a crucial to its success” is the opening statement of Ms Papey during the Orientation.
Recognizing the importance of enhancing the competencies of local government officials as managers for local development, the Department of the Interior and Local Government - Cordillera Administrative Region conducted the Newly Elected Officials Program (NEO) to capacitate the newly elected officials held August 17-19, 2016 at Albergo Hotel, Villamor Drive, Baguio City.
The program is designed to prepare local officials for the ASEAN Community, create harmonization and complementation of national and local priorities, address the continuing challenge of climate change and disaster, launching of the sustainable development goals, and rapid urbanization.
Along with other Regional Line Agency Directors and head of agencies/offices, who were invited to introduce their programs and services, Nutrition Program Coordinator Rita D. Papey of the National Nutrition Council Cordillera did a presentation on the nutrition programs covering the Legal mandates on nutrition, the National Nutrition Council and Coordinating Structures, City and Municipal Nutrition Committee and key players, City and Municipal Nutrition Action Plans, the Nutrition Awards and the Sustainable Development Goals for Nutrition Targets for 2025.
