AbraBANGUED, Abra, Mar. 23 (PIA) -- Regional team from National Nutrition Council   oriented members of the Provincial Nutrition Council on the tool and guidelines in the upcoming Monitoring and Evaluation on Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) in the municipal level down to barangays.

Ms. Nancy E. Paclos, Nutrition officer III explained the council has to choose four municipalities to evaluate their nutrition plans and programs, preferably one having the best nutrition practice, the most nutritionally depressed area, and two in the middle level.

Paclos encouraged the PNC to work hard in their nutrition programs and information drive in order to curb the perennial malnutrition problem in the province, and to work closely with the municipal nutrition committees  in order to produce a candidate for Green Banner Award for satisfactory performance in implementing its nutrition program.

Coinciding with MELLPI is the evaluation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS). BNS are volunteers who assist in the nutrition programs in the barangay.

Carol D. Donaal   also presented validation checklist and rating sheet for the BNS, and score sheet for evaluation of municipal nutrition programs.

The MELLPI is expected to be conducted in the province from May 29 to June 2, 2017. (JDP/GBB- PIA CAR, Abra) copied from ews.pia.gov.ph by Ginalyn B. Brioso
