ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao- Saluad Salun-at Council (SSC), the local name for the Municipal Nutrition Committee of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao was visited by the National Nutrition Evaluation Team (NNET) on June 27-30, 2017 as contender for the second year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition (CROWN) maintenance award.
Ms. Ellen Abella of NNC-Central Office, Ms. Luz Tagunicar of DOH and Ms. Carleneth San Valentin of the World Vision Development Foundation were the members of the NNET who evaluated three barangays namely Little Tadian, the best Barangay Nutrition Committee of the municipality in 2017 and barangays Dolowog and Potia. The two former barangays were randomly selected based on the prevalence of malnutrition.
On the first day of the evaluation, the NNET evaluated the nutrition activities and nutrition program management of the SSC through the presentation of the council’s accomplishments presented by Hon. Glenn Prudenciano, the SSC Chairperson of Alfonso Lista, open forum and desk review of the records and documents of the SSC.
At the barangay level, the evaluation was done through desk review of the barangays records, interviews with the barangay nutrition committee members and validation weighing of 10 percent of the preschoolers. Site visitation to the local nutrition committee projects was also done.
Baguio City and the province of Benguet were also evaluated by the NNET for their 1st year CROWN maintenance. Results of the evaluation is expected to be disseminated by the NNET by September 2017.
