AbraBANGUED, Abra – The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC)-Cordillera is expanding the implementation of an interactive education tool in nutrition to address malnutrition in four towns of Abra and press on towards health and nutrition development for the whole province.

The Pabasa sa Nutrisyon will be conducted for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries of the municipalities of Tayum, Lagangilang, San Isidro and La Paz for three months. It shall be undertaken in coordination with the Department of Health, Abra – Provincial Nutrition Committee and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The project aims that by the December, the 4Ps beneficiaries would understand and give importance to nutrition and promote right nutrition practices that will meet nutrition needs of children in their respective places.

The Pabasa sa Nutrisyon is an educational tool involving modules on nutrition in the family development sessions towards an improved nutritional status of children, and other vulnerable groups like pregnant and lactating mothers.



Bella Basalong of NNC-CAR shared that said program conducted in Malibcong, Tineg, and Lacub last year helped lessen the malnutrition rate in said areas.

The RNC believes that continued education, training programs, feeding programs, and other schemes contribute to the improvement of the nutritional status of this province.   Furthermore, these will play an important role in addressing malnutrition by ensuring that the people of Abra get the needed health care and nutrition services.
