BANGUED, Abra- As part of the LGU mobilization activity for the province of Abra, a  Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) focus province in the Cordillera, National Nutrition Council-CAR  conducted the mentoring of  local nutrition committee members in  selected municipalities of Abra on February 20-23, 2018.

The mentoring activity aims to assist members of the Local Nutrition Committees (LNCs) on nutrition program management to transform them to self-propelling LGUs able to plan, implement, coordinate monitor and evaluate effective nutrition programs and  ensure  their contribution in delivering planned PPAN outcomes.

The mentoring team composed of RNPC Papey, Nutrition Officer II Diane Joaquin of NNC-CAR, Universal Health Care Implementer (UHCI) Mislyn Rimando of DOH-CAR assigned in Abra visited the municipalities of Lagangilang, Danglas, Pilar, Villaviciosa and Tineg. These were also the municipalities which were assisted by NNC-CAR for their local nutrition planning workshops in 2016-2017. The visits also served as a follow through of the local planning workshop and nutrition program management training attended by some MNAOs.

Local nutrition action plans and other LNC records and documents were reviewed and suggestions/feedback were given to LNC members.

Another round of mentoring was set with the Provincial Nutrition Committee on March 12-16, 2018 in the municipalities of Tayum, Luba, Tubo, Dolores, Peñarrubia and Bangued.
