Baguio City- The search committee for the RNC-CAR weight management project will commence March 15, 2019. This was the agreement in the meeting among CSC, CHD and NNC last January 29, 2019. Members of the evaluation team will be the CHD-CAR, CSC CAR, NDAP Baguio Benguet Chapter and NNC-CAR.
Overnutrition among the workforce had been a concern of the Regional Nutrition Committee of the Cordillera Administrative Region with the continuous rise of overnutrition among adults. Based on the assessment conducted by RNC through the Benguet State University, more than half (52%) of the regional government employees are either overweight or obese.
To help address the said concern, the Regional Nutrition Committee- CAR approved the conduct of the Weight Management Project. The first implementation period started on July 2018- December 2019 and it is a continuing project.
To give recognition to the agencies who participated in the implementation of the project, the RNC agreed to conduct an evaluation of project implementation for July to December 2018 and search for the awardees. The search/evaluation committee also expects to gain insights on how to further improve the weight management project.
The Center for Health and Development-CAR Regional Nutritionist Dietitian and Healthy Lifestyle focal person and NNC CAR staff prepared the evaluation tools. CHD CAR representative and NNC CAR met with Civil Service Commission-CAR last January 29, 2019 to discuss the conduct of the evaluation and seek the support for the activity. CSC-CAR Regional Director Marilyn Taldo and Assistant Regional Director Cornelia Rillera who were both present in the meeting were very supportive. As agreed in the meeting, CSC CAR will issue a regional memorandum circular addressed to regional line agencies regarding the conduct of the evaluation at the same call for the continuing implementation of the weight reduction project.
The recognition of agency and individual awardees is tentatively scheduled in the month of July as part of the Nutrition Month celebration.
