Baguio City – The Cordillera Barangay Nutrition Scholars Federations Inc. (CordiBNS Fed Inc.) started implementing the Survivorship Assistance Fund (SAF) Project as supplement to the survivorship assistance to Barangay Nutrition Scholars provided by the National Nutrition Council. The benefits of the project can now be availed by the BNSes.
The SAF is a project of the CordiBNS Fed Inc. aimed at making BNS members help families of other BNS members upon death of a BNS through provision of financial assistance to the BNS beneficiary. This project was discussed in two meetings in 2019 (October 17 and December 27) and was approved through CordiBNS Fed, Inc. Resolution no. 4, series of 2020 on February 27, 2020.
Participation to the said project is not compulsory. However, all BNSes in the region are enjoined to participate.
The project is funded by the SAF Registration Fee, an amount of P50.00 collected as registration fee from interested BNSes and the SAF Annual Due, an amount of P10.00 for the succeeding years after payment of the registration fee.
As stated in the implementing guidelines of the SAF, BNSes who are terminated or who resigned will no longer be a beneficiary of SAF and his/her contributions are non-refundable.
Survivorship Assistance of P5,000.00 shall be provided to the families of deceased BNSes regardless of the cause and place of death, which will be processed and released by the CordiBNSFed. As of the 2nd quarter of the year 2021, one BNS beneficiary in Baguio City received the 5,000 financial assistance and four BNS beneficiaries are currently being processed.
The CordiBNSFed hopes that through this SAF project, unity and linkages among BNS Federations within the region will be further promote, and camaraderie and economic upliftment among others are strengthened.
