Baguio City - The Province of Benguet represented by the Barangay Nutrition Committee of Banengbeng, Sablan was hailed as the winner of the 2021 Cordillera Nutrisong Contest for Local Nutrition Committees (LNCs).
With a total score of 95.98 points, Benguet bested the other five participating entries to clinch the top spot.
Following in 2nd and 3rd places are the Province of Ifugao represented by the Municipal Nutrition Committee of Aguinaldo with a total score of 78.61 points, and Mountain Province represented by the Barangay Nutrition Committee of Bontoc Ili, Bontoc with a total score of 64.71 points, respectively.
Benguet will receive a cash prize of P30,000.00, P25,000.00 for Ifugao, and P20,000.00 for Mountain Province. Meanwhile, Baguio City and the Provinces of Kalinga and Apayao will bring home consolation prizes of P7,000.00.
Fifty percent (50%) of the total scores were from the scores given by the judges during the virtual judging activity held on July 16 while the other 50% were from the total number of Facebook reactions (like, heart, wow, and care) that the entries accumulated during the voting period from July 16 to July 23.
The panel of judges consisted of Mr. Rey S. Sagandoy, Development Management Officer IV of DOH-CHD-CAR, Ms. Jane S. Sianen, Economic Development Specialist I of NEDA-CAR, Ms. Lily Mae Fransisco, Community Development Officer III of NCIP-CAR, PCPT Marcy Grace U. Marron, Chief of the Regional Women and Children Protection Desk of PRO-COR and Representative of the RSCWC, Mr. Jayson Manuel L. Osong, Choir Master of the Cordillera Regional Science High School Glee Club, and Mr. Joseph Manzano, Vice President of the CARMENu and Station Manager of RPN.
The Cordillera Nutrisong Contest for LNCs which debuted in 2020 aims to increase awareness among key stakeholders on the annual nutrition month themes and to strengthen camaraderie among LNCs. Moreover, the activity is in celebration of the Cordillera Month.
