LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The provincial government recognized local government units, schools and program frontliners who stood out in the implementation of nutrition programs.

Awards were categorized as Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Program Implementers, Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), and Best Implementer of School Health and Nutrition Programs.
For the Outstanding Municipal Nutrition program Implementer, Tublay landed first and received a plaque and P24, 000; second place was Tuba with plaque and P20, 000; and third place, Kabayan with plaque and P15, 000.

Tublay is a consistent winner at the provincial level for three years now.

Magdalena T. Sacpa of Central, Kapangan was accorded as the top BNS for 2014 for her initiatives in advancing the nutrition program in her community. She bagged the same title in 2009 and 2013.

As an incentive for Her exemplary performance, she got a plaque and P15, 000 cash incentive. Governor Nestor Fongwan said Sacpa will also receive P300, 000 which will be used for nutrition programs and activities in her barangay.

The other top two outstanding BNS with their corresponding cash awards and plaque of recognitionwere: Gabinia A. Guzman of Naguey, Atok and P12, 000 cash, and Marieta B. Tay-og of Poblacion, Sablan with P10, 000 cash.

A consolation prize of P3, 000 cash was received by the rest of the entries.

The best Implementer of school health and nutrition programs for the elementary level were Binga Elementary School in Itogon (first); Kibungan ES (second), and Lepanto ES (third).

For the High School level, winners were Tuba National High School-Main (first), Mankayan NHS (second), and Fianza Memorial NHS (third).

The first, second and third got cash awards of P15, 000; P12, 000; and P10, 000; respectively.

Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Rita D. Papey who was one of the guests of honor in the awarding ceremonies is looking forward for Benguet to garner the top regional nutrition implementer award.

The province has been a consistent winner in the search.

Honouring the best in nutrition program implementers is done to recognize the various individuals and LGUs that have been taking initiatives to improve the health of their constituents, such as the implementation of continuous and effective nutrition programs in their respective communities.
