baguiojoinslanternparadeOctober 4, 2011- In support of the 111th Civil Service Anniversary Celebration, the National Nutrition Council-Cordillera Administrative Region together with different government and non-government agencies joined the Thanksgiving Mass for all Government Workers and Servant Heroes in the Cordillera followed by a “Parada ng mga Kutitap” (Lantern Parade).

The thanksgiving mass started at 6:00pm at the Baguio Cathedral, officiated by Bishop Carlito J. Censon, CICM, DD. In his message, Boishop Censon emphasized time management. “Productivity is the solution to development in the country...” he added.

The mass was immediately followed by the lantern parade along with the sounding of gongs and indigenous musical instruments to signal the start of the parade. It started from the Cathedral’s main gate, down to Patria Building, Session Road towards Maharlika Center and Harrison Road. The parade ended at the back of the Melvin Jones Grandstand. Government personnel who joined the parade carried their lanterns which were creatively made from scrap materials with indigenous accents.

Lantern parade participants carried their agency banners and placards, posters or slogans focusing on the anniversary theme which was "Championing RACE: Public Service Excellence at Full Service" to heighten public awareness on RA 8495 or the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) advocacies on promoting integrity, anti-corruption and environmental protection.
