b 327 220 2734 0   images kapangan Baguio City—A simultaneous training on Nutrition in Emergencies for the Local Government Units of Kapangan and Atok, Benguet was held last November 26-28, 2013 at the Baguio Burnham Suites. These back to back trainings were funded by the World Food Programme (WFP) to train and capacitate LGUs and ultimately empower them to respond to the nutrition needs during emergencies and disasters.

 The said training was participated by the different stakeholders coming from the municipalities of Kapangan and Atok particularly selected members of the Local Nutrition Committee, Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and community volunteers and was facilitated by the WFP & the National Nutrition Council-CAR.

The training is designed for two and a half days which include the following modules:
1. Overview of the Disaster Risk Reduction and management System
2. Introduction to Nutrition in Emergencies
3. Nutritional Assessment during Emergencies
4. Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies
5. Micronutrient Supplementation during Emergencies
6. Supplementary Feeding Program
7. Management of Acute Malnutrition and
8. Planning for Nutrition in Emergency Management

As a result, participants were able to formulate their respective nutrition in emergency plans for their LGUs.
