b 283 220 2734 0   images awardBaguio City-- The National Nutrition Council-CAR gave recognition to the outstanding nutrition implementers in the region and Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars for the year 2012 during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony last November 12, 2013 at Hotel Supreme.

The Province of Ifugao received a plaque of recognition for passing the second year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) maintentance award; the Municipality of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao received Green Banner Award being the adjudged 2012 Regional Outstanding Nutrition Program Implementers (municipal category), Benguet Province and Baguio City received plaque of recognitions being the best performing LGU in nutrition program implementation for province and city category, respectively.

The Municipalities of Alfonso Lista in Ifugao, Tublay in Benguet and Pinukpuk in Kalinga were also awarded with Green Banners as the 2012 Provincial Outstanding Nutrition Implementers in their respective provinces.

Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (OBNSs) were also given plaque of recognitions with corresponding cash awards. Ms. Mila Buya (Sagubo, Kapangan, Benguet) was awarded as the 2012 Regional OBNS while Ms. Gliceria Allaga (Olilicon, Lagawe, Ifugao), Ms. Monica Sicat (City Camp Proper, Baguio City), Ms. Mary Ann Camaddo (Cawagayan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga), Mr. Dado Ilong (Dagupan Weste, Tabuk City) and Rhessz Balbin (Tattawa, PeƱarrubia, Abra) were finalists of the search.

Other exemplary initiated projects were recognized like Breastfeeding in the Workplace (Penarrubia, Abra), Localized Health and Nutrition Database (San Antonio Village, Baguio City), Integrated Area Development Assistance Program (Province of Ifugao), Translating the PPAN Priority Actions into Localized Projects (Labueg, Kapangan, Benguet) and Tublay SHINES (Tublay, Benguet).

Dir. Valeriano Lopez of DOH-CAR, on his keynote message, praised and congratulated all the awardees for their unsolicited and countless efforts in delivering their quality health and nutrition services succeeding all the challenges in nutrition implementation. He added that malnutrition problems particularly underweight among children still persist in the region with growing concerns of overweight and obesity and he called for an intensified convergence effort to address these problems.

OIC Blanco challenged all the delegates to double their effort not only for the sake of the awards but more importantly for the welfare of children in the Cordillera Region.

The ceremonial awarding was spearheaded by Dir. Valeriano Jesus V. Lopez of DOH-CAR, ARD Danilo Daguio of DA-CAR, OIC-NPC Ma. Eileen B. Blanco of NNC-CAR and OIC-NPC Rose Lulu P. Pagaduan of NNC-Region I.
