The CARMENu officers and members plan their 2022 nutrition promotion activities during their meeting on February 22, 2022 at G1Lodge in Baguio City.
Baguio City - Cordillera Administrative Region Media Educators on Nutrition (CARMENu) planned three major nutrition promotion activities for 2022 during their first meeting on February 22, 2022 at G1Lodge, Baguio City. Said meeting was presided by Ms. Rose Malekchan, CARMENu president and attended by 9 CARMENu members.
Three major activities of the organization, namely the NutriPasada, Food, Health and Nutrition (FHN) Webinar and Nutri-Jingle Contest were presented and discussed during the meeting.
The Food, Health and Nutrition Webinar will be the first nutrition promotion activity to be conducted which is initially scheduled on April 26, 2022. The webinar will be focusing on food safety, nutrition, and mental health for school children. For the topic on mental health, particularly, it will dwell on preparing the school children for the transition from modular, online and hybrid instruction to the resumption of face-to-face classes. Health and science teachers and focal persons in-charge of the feeding programs of schools in coordination with the Department of Education will be invited for the said webinar. Mr. Jonathan Munar and Ms. Rimaliza Opiña, CARMENu members, will moderate the said webinar.
Second, the NutriPasada or the community outreach for 2022 is initially planned to be conducted in July as part of the Nutrition Month Celebration. The identification of the community to be visited by the media group will depend on the focus group of the Nutrition Month Theme. The media group will convene for another meeting to plan details of the activity once the Nutrition Month theme is released. Mr. Joseph Manzano and Mr. Dionisio Dennis Jr. will lead the facilitation of the activity.
Last, the Nutri-Jingle Contest for Higher Education Institutions (season 3), a joint nutrition promotion activity of CARMENu, NNC-CAR and Commission on Higher Education-CAR, will be conducted from August until September this year, a month earlier compared to the conduct of the contest’s previous season.
The CARMENu, in partnership with NNC-CAR, committed to carry out these activities for 2022 to increase awareness of the community on proper nutrition.
