LAGAWE, Ifugao – The local government restructured the Kiphodan Nutri-Eskwela Community Radio Council (KNECRC) to ensure smooth management of this town’s community radio.

The reorganization was made after some of its former members have been re-assigned or transferred to other work designations and affected the council’s functionality.

“The situation warrants the reorganization for the municipal government to efficiently manage radio staff members, provide the public improved services, provide motivating community radio messages, updates and daily news, and encourage community participation,” Mayor Ceasario Cabbigat said.

The KNECRC is now composed of the municipal nutrition action officer-designate as chair and the municipal administrator as vice chair.

Municipal heads of office, executive assistants, the provincial nutrition action officer, the Philippine Information Agency, and a representative of the senior citizens are the members.

The KNECRC will work to create policies and major decisions and monitor the implementation with respect to the programming and operation of the KNECRC, plan related activities of the council and the radio station office, and conduct assessment and evaluate the target activities of the radio station.

It will work on the implementation of issues and concerns and agreement stipulated in the memorandum of agreement between the local government unit and the National Nutrition Council and submit reports to the local chief executive.

It will also come up with recommendations pertaining to the management of staff, activities, and operations of the community radio station.

Radyo Kiphodan (99.1 MHZ) is one of the only two nutriskwela community radio stations in the Cordillera established by the NNC. It is managed by the municipal government of Lagawe, with transmitter and broadcast studio located at the municipal hall. It started broadcast activities in August 2010.

Kiphodan is an Ifugao language meaning values.

The Nutriskwela Community Radio aims to nourish and enrich its audiences through up-to-date and timely nutrition and health information, essential developmental information, learning services, and entertainment with a commitment to excellence in serving local, national, and international communities.
