20 June 2013 – Assistant Secretary of Health Ma. Bernardita T. Flores, Executive Director of the National Nutrition Council with the MQ Mediazone Production visited DZNA FM 99.9 Mghz Nutriskwela Radyo Kabinnulig in Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST), in Lagangilang, Abra. This is one of the 25 Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations newly established by the National Nutrition Council in partnership with an LGU or an SU/C.
“The purpose of the visit is not to look for the problems and deficiencies, considering that the radio station just officially aired last June 3, 2013 but we want to hear from the Community Radio Council of Radyo Kabinnulig about your plans in sustaining this project”, A/Sec Flores said.
The President of ASIST and also the Station Manager of the radio, Dr. Aurelio Labanen with the CRC members presented their daily planned programs and operations of the station and solicited recommendations from the Monitoring Team Production regarding how to sustain the project and how to get more sponsorships and donations.
A/Sec Flores with the team shared some tips on how to successfully operate a community radio station like: covering events, utilizing student participation, maximizing the allowed air time by the NTC, and expanding the CRC membership to private sectors and civil societies. She also announced that, the National Nutrition Council will conduct regular surprise visits to assess extent of program implementation.
