Lagangilang, Abra—The DZNA-FM 99.9Mhz Nutriskwela Radyo Kabinnulig in Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) is now officially on air just after the turnover of the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) license to operate from the National Nutrition Council to Dr. Aurelio Labanen, President of ASIST. This was held during the inauguration and blessing of the nutriskwela studio and equipments last April 17, 2013 witnessed by almost 70 representatives coming from the local government and non- government organizations.
Radyo Kabinnulig is one among the 25 Nutriskwela Community Radio Station established by the National Nutrition Council in partnership with LGUs and State Universities or Colleges (SUCs) and the second nutriskwela radio station in the Cordillera Administrative Region with the objective of empowering the community through the dissemination of correct, relevant and up-to-date nutrition and health information, as well as educational and developmental information from all sectors.
Hon. Patrocinio Abaya, Municipal Mayor of Lagangilang, Abra expressed his full support to the program and said during the inaugural interview that this is a great opportunity to inform and educate the people of Lagangilang about the programs of the local government especially the nutrition- related programs.
“This radio program of the National Nutrition Council of the Department of Health is a very big help to us here in Lagangilang especially in educating the people on agriculture, health, and other sectoral programs and I believe that this will contribute to the reduction of poverty and malnutrition of Lagangilang in particular and the Province of Abra as a whole”, he added.
Moreover, the radio station will be managed by the said school with the supervision of the Community Radio Council composed of the trained representatives from the different sectors chaired by Mr. Marino Trinidad, former Provincial Director of the DILG and representing the Senior Citizens Group.
The NNC with CAR- Regional Office will regularly conduct monitoring and evaluation to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the radio program guided by several policies.
