b 527 220 2734 0   images images  1011005 15-16 April 2013—The National Nutrition Council with its media partner, MQ Mediazone Productions, conducted a hands-on training on Community Radio Broadcasting on Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program in Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST), Lagangilang, Abra. This was attended by 30 participants representing the various sectors: the Academe, Local Goverment Unit of Lagangilang, Abra, BNS Federation, Senior Citizens Group, Farmers Association, Fisherfolks, Religious Group, Youth and Students Organizations, Indigenous People and the Philippine National Police.

The training intends to orient and mobilize the different sectors in the Municipality of Lagangilang to actively participate and support the radio program; to be members of the community radio council; and to be broadcasters of the Nutriskwela Radio Program of the National Nutrition Council in partnership with the said school.

Ms. Jovita B. Raval, Chief of the Nutrition Information and Education Division of the NNC said that the radio program was established by the NNC in partnership with ASIST with the goal of empowering the community through the radio to disseminate correct, current and relevant nutrition and health information from all concerned sectors of the community, government agencies and non-government agencies.

Lagangilang, Abra was the targeted location for the program being one among the municipalities with high prevalence of malnutrition, under the 609 municipalities identified as convergence area for poverty reduction and has no commercial radio station reaching the area.
