The Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro in the region will commence next month, August 2022. This was firmed up by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) members composed of representatives from the different Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) member agencies during the virtual 2022 MELLPI Pro for Provinces Orientation cum RNET Meeting held on June 3, 2022.

It was agreed during the meeting that the evaluations will now be conducted face-to-face. Aside from the six provinces and Baguio City, the RNET will also evaluate Local Nutrition Focal Points which include the Provincial Nutrition Action Officers, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators, Municipal/City Nutrition Action Officers, and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) vying for the Regional Outstanding BNS award.

The result of the MELLPI Pro will be used to determine some of the nutrition awardees for CY 2022 who will be recognized during the 2022 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC). It was earlier approved in May through RNC-CAR Resolution No. 2, series of 2022 that the nutrition awardees of the region for 2022 will be commended.

As stipulated in the resolution, the nutrition champions to be awarded for the 2022 RNAC are:

• High performing LGUs and nutrition workers identified through the conduct of the 2022 MELLPI Pro in Baguio City, provinces and municipalities;
• Best Barangay Nutrition Implementers declared by the Provincial/Highly Urbanized City Nutrition Evaluation Team;
• Thirty-two (32) LGUs with less than 10% prevalence of stunting among 0-59 months children based on the 2021 Operation Timbang Plus result; and
• Thirty-eight (38) LGUs with continuous decrease in stunting prevalence among 0-59 months children from 2019 to 2021 based on the Operation Timbang Plus results.

The RNAC 2022 is scheduled to be conducted on the last week of October this year.
