The training comprised of six (6) batches: two (2) batches for Pangasinan held last April 6 – 8, 2016 at Hotel Consuelo, Lingayen Pangasinan; two (2) batches for Ilocos Norte held last April 20 – 22, 2016 at Northview Hotel, Laoag City; one (1) batch for Ilocos Sur and La Union held last May 18 – 20, 2016 at Ariana Hotel, Bauang, La Union. These were participated by Local Nutrition Action Officers, Local Planning and Development Coordinators and Local Disaster Risk Reduction, Management Officers and Presidents of BNS Provincial Federations.

The training aims to capacitate the participants on the nutrition intervention package during emergencies and formulation of Nutrition in Emergencies Preparedness, Response and Recovery Plan. Also, it aims to enjoin the participants to organize their Local Nutrition Clusters in their respective cities and municipalities in compliance to the Regional Development Council Resolution No. 60 s. 2014 “Enjoining LGUs to organize their Local Nutrition Clusters”.

These trainings were facilitated by the technical staff of NNC-ROI headed by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen B. Blanco, Mr. Frederich Christian Tan of NNC- Central Office together with regional and local trainers.

Each LGU was able to craft their local Nutrition in Emergencies Plan to be finalized in their respective areas as part of the re/organization and strengthening of their local nutrition clusters.

It is expected that nutrition clusters at all levels will ensure the protection and prevents worsening of the nutritional status of affected individuals especially vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant, lactating and elderly during emergencies and disasters including the protection and promotion of breastfeeding and appropriate complementary in evacuation centers.
