Finally, the Municipalities of Bacnotan and Naguilian, La Union garnered the most coveted Pabasa sa Nutrisyon (PSN) Hall of Fame Award while the Municipalities of Agoo, Balaoan and Rosario received their Pabasa sa Nutrisyon (PSN) Outstanding Award during the Joint Convention of the Philippine Association of Nutrition (PAN) Inc. and Philippine Society of Nutritionist Dietitians (PSND), Inc. held last July 7, 2016 at Century Park Hotel, Malate Manila.
In 2013 and 2014 the Municipalities of Bacnotan and Naguilian, La Union received PSN Outstanding Award, followed by an Exemplary Award in 2015 and recently the Hall of Fame Award for implementing Pabasa sa Nutrisyon for 4 consecutive years in all barangays in both municipalities.
The Municipalities of Agoo and Balaoan, La Union also received their 2nd PSN Outstanding Award while the Municipality of Rosario received its 1st PSN Outstanding Award.
This Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Project is a Nutrition Education Approach, involving the sustained active participation of women, men, particularly the pregnant, lactating and parents with undernourished children and other target groups in the respective barangays.
These awards were achieved thru the efficient and effective implementation of PSN at the barangay level by the very active Municipal and Barangay Implementers.
PSN aims to improve the nutrition situation and practices of all beneficiaries which contributed to the downward trend of malnutrition in their respective municipalities as well as in the Province of La Union.
With the leadership and support of local chief executives, the collective efforts of the Municipal/Barangay Nutrition Committees and close supervision of Provincial PGN Implementers and Nutrition Staff of the Provincial Health Office with the support and assistance of the National Nutrition Council Regional Office headed by Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen Blanco made it reality that the 5 municipalities have achieved the PSN Hall of Fame and Outstanding Awards.
