The Regional Launching of the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Intervention Package for the First 1000 Days and Nutrition Month/ ECCD Press Conference was successfully conducted last July 14, 2016 at Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center, Alaminos City, Pangasinan.
The event was hosted by the City Government of Alaminos led by Honorable Mayor Arthur F. Celeste and in partnership with RONDA-1 and KBP- Pangasinan Chapter.
This was attended by around 250 nutrition stakeholders comprising members of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) and Regional Nutrition Planning and Evaluation Team (RNPET), representatives from the ECCD (ASAPP) Areas (Municipalities of Umingan and Bayambang, Cities of Urdaneta and Alaminos) and local media partners, among others.
The ECCD Intervention Package aims to contribute to the full growth and development of the child through integrated services of health, nutrition, early education, and social services for improved quality of the country’s human resource base. This is NNC’s commitment and contribution in the reduction of poverty particularly in ASAPP areas.
The launching is also in line with the Nutrition Month celebration with the theme “First 1000 Days ni baby pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan” that aims to create awareness on the importance of proper infant and young child feeding practices.
Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen B. Blanco presented the components of the ECCD Intervention Package composed of integrated services from various agencies which will be implemented in all barangays of the municipalities/cities covered by the ASAPP.
The event was highlighted with the signing of commitment to support the implementation of the ECCD Intervention Package spearheaded by Alaminos City Mayor Arthur F. Celeste together with Vice Mayor Jose Antonio Miguel Perez and representatives from other ECCD areas and other partners.
Nutrition Month/ECCD Press Conference followed moderated by the officers of the Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates-1 (RONDA-1) and Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters ng Pilipinas- Pangasinan Chapter. Panelists were Regional Director Myrna Cabotaje of DOH; Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen Blanco of NNC; Mayor Arthur Celeste; Vice- Mayor Jose Antonio Miguel Perez; Councilor Apolonia Bacay, Chair of the Committee on Health; Hon. Salvador Camba, ABC President; City Administrator Emelou Gellado; City Health Officer Ma. Victoria Carambas; City Nutrition Action Officer Virginia Francisco; OB-Gyne Felicidad De Leon and Pediatrician Daphnie Uson.
