Cervantes, Ilocos Sur – The DZNP-FM 93.5Mhz Nutriskwela Community Radio Station, Radyo Kabinnadang successfully re-organized its Community Radio Council (CRC) during its meeting on November 11, 2016 held at Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, South Cluster Campus, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur facilitated by the National Nutrition Council- Regional Office I (NNC-ROI). This was attended by around 20 members of the radio council and station personnel including other sectors such as health and nutrition, religious, and youth.
The meeting aims to strengthen the sectoral and community participation of the people of Cervantes, Ilocos Sur in radio programming, revitalize the CRC as the advisory body, and maximize the use of radio station as a medium to disseminate relevant and correct nutrition information and other developmental programs.
Mr. Romeo Acyangan, representing Mayor Pablito Benjamin P. Maggay of Cervantes committed the Local Government’s support for Radyo Kabinnadang. He also reiterated the LGU’s effort of deploying one of its staff as an initial support to the radio station.
Mr. Severo Talipo, Station Manager of Radyo Kabinnadang reiterated the commitment of the former mayor of providing a generator set during one of the NNC-ROI’s visit led by Nutrition Program Coordinator (NPC) Ma. Eileen Blanco to ensure full radio operation even during power interruptions.
Mr. Kendall Gatan, Nutrition Officer III of NNC-ROI presented the history and overview of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Station in behalf of NPC Blanco to remind the CRC and station personnel with their roles and responsibilities. He also commended sectors and individuals who were part of Radyo Kabinnadang programming for more than a year and for keeping the station on air despite the many challenges.
The election for the new set of CRC officers highlighted the meeting. Below are the newly elected CRC officers:

In behalf of the newly elected CRC Chair Ms. Honora Moises, Ms. Erlinda Nacis, Vice-chair of CRC, took the opportunity to extend her gratitude to the National Nutrition Council for always extending support to the radio station and challenged her co-officers and station personnel not only to commit their support but to stay involved, participate actively in all activities and ensure full cooperation towards a sustained and shining (agrimat) Radyo Kabinnadang.
The body also reviewed the daily programming to maximize the daily airtime and align programming with the nutriskwela community radio program guidelines. Upcoming events and plans for 2017 were also discussed to ensure efficient, effective and sustained radio operations. (MVDC)
