The officers of the Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates -1, Inc (RONDA-1) with the staff of the National Nutrition Council- Region I successfully conducted a three-day RONDA-1 Planning-Workshop and Teambuilding at the Skylight Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan from March 22 to 24, 2017.
The activity provided RONDA-1 members and NNC-ROI with skills and added knowledge that will increase their personal effectiveness and ultimately, the effectiveness of the entire organization to work together for an accurate, relevant and timely nutrition information dissemination in LUPang Ilocos.
Board Member of Palawan and Chairperson of Committee on Health Hon. Eduardo Modesto Rodriguez in behalf of Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez warmly welcomed the officers of RONDA-1 and NNC1 staff to Palawan Province. Moreover, Mr. Cyrus D. Claridad, Provincial Information Officer of Palawan presented the programs and projects of Palawan Government particularly their health and nutrition actions and initiatives to address the social needs of the people. He also promoted the wonder natures and tourist destinations as among the pride of the province.
Mr. Edgardo L. Javarez of RGMA-DYSP Super Radyo Palawan and Ms. Goody Sarsasat of Radyo ng Bayan Palawan, both officers of PROMONUTRICOM (Palawan, Romblon, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro), the local media group for nutrition organized by NNC-MIMAROPA willingly shared their strategies and good practices to the officers of RONDA-1.
The group assessed the local media programming in region 1 for the year 2014-2016 andidentified workable strategies and actions needed for 2017-2019. For a more intensive and localized nutrition campaign, the group formulated local nutrition plugs, Ilocano and Pangasinense versions for local radio stations. The group finalized details of their plans and activities for 2017 and had initial planning for 2018.
The RONDA-1 and NNC-ROI also visited the Provincial Nutrition Office of Palawan headed by PNAO of Palawan Rachelle Paladan and witnessed existing nutrition programs and projects that contributed to the decreasing malnutrition prevalence rate of the province. Also, a courtesy visit to Puerto Princesa City Mayor Luis Marcaida III was also done.
The group had also the opportunity to explore some captivating scenic and tourist destinations in Puerto Princesa City.
