San Fernando City, La Union – In celebration with the National Women’s Month, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in partnership with Region-1 Advocates for Gender Equality, Inc. (RAGE-1) joined the inter-agency event entitled “Serbisyo para kay Juan at Juana” last March 27, 2017 at the atrium of CSI Mall, San Fernando City, La Union.San Fernando City, La Union – In celebration with the National Women’s Month, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in partnership with Region-1 Advocates for Gender Equality, Inc. (RAGE-1) joined the inter-agency event entitled “Serbisyo para kay Juan at Juana” last March 27, 2017 at the atrium of CSI Mall, San Fernando City, La Union.

The event was hosted by Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) while participating agencies were the Department of Health, Commission on Population, National Nutrition Council, Department of Labor and Employment, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, Civil Service Commission, National Police Commission, Commission on Human Rights, Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of Science and Technology.

Ms. Mary Gene S. Contic, Ms. Andreissa Fae S. Ranchez and Mr. Nicholo Adrianne Lozano represented NNC RO I and offered nutrition services such as weight and height measurement, determining body mass index and desirable body weight, assessing nutritional status as well as nutrition counselling and promotion of 10 Kumainments.

NNC also advocated the 2017 Nutrition Month Theme “Healthy diet, gawing habit – FOR LIFE” and reiterated the importance of appropriate dietary eating habits. Pamphlets on Pinggang Pinoy for teens, adults, kids, pregnant women and lactating mothers were also distributed to clients of different ages.

Hand in hand with other agencies, the event supporting the National Women’s Month theme, “We make Change Work for Women” served as a venue to promote gender equality and development through provision of an array of health, nutrition, livelihood, family planning, science and technological services.

Highlights were the free evaluation of random blood sugar and cholesterol, blood pressure measurement, free massage and family planning services. Informational materials were also handed to shoppers like fans, flyers, leaflets, posters, infographics and other freebies to promote each agency’s banner programs and services. (AFSR)
