ALAMINOS, PANGASINAN- The City of Alaminos successfully held this year’s Buntis/Baby Summit under the program, Early Childhood Care and Development for the First 1000 Days (ECCD F1K) with the theme, “Anak Ko, Mahal Ko” at Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center last September 22, 2017. The event was attended by more than 500 pregnant and lactating women coming from all the barangays of the city.

Alaminos City Mayor Arthur F. Celeste graced the event by welcoming everyone and thanked the National Nutrition Council for the support through the ECCD-F1K program which is in line with one of the city’s priority agenda of ensuring health and nutritional needs of their citizen. He then encouraged the attendees to avail of the services of the city government particularly on health and nutrition.

Dr. Ma. Victoria Carambas, City Health Officer of Alaminos City in her message accentuated the importance of the first 1000 Days ni Baby explaining the most critical time for the development and growth in order for the child to build a strong foundation on health and immunity. Next to her, Ms. Michelle Segundera highlighted that mothers are the true heroes of the nation because they are the ones responsible for providing the nation’s successful servants.

Mr. Kendall Gatan of NNC in behalf of Ms. Ma. Eileen Blanco, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator emphasized the strong support and commitment of NNC in ensuring the nutritional well-being of the country particularly in addressing malnutrition. He also emphasized the gains of a person having proper nutrition starting in their First 1000 Days of life.

Dr. Fideles Ochave, keynote speaker of the event briefly discussed the importance of proper care all throughout pregnancy as the most important way to start building a better future of the child.

Parts of the program were the conduct of Nutrition Counseling and lectures regarding the importance of responsible parenthood, pre/post-natal check-ups, and proper breastfeeding; Food Demo; Mom Make-over; and Routine Laboratory Exam (for pregnant mothers) which were enjoyed by the participants. WNL
