The Nutriskwela Community Network Program of the NNC is a long-term and cost-efficient strategy in addressing hunger and malnutrition in the country, through the use of radio. In establishing community radio stations, NNC aims to empower the community through the dissemination of current, relevant and up-to-date nutrition and health information as well as educational developmental information from all relevant sectors of the community, government agencies and non-government organizations. Through this strategy, the local people and nearby communities can acquire basic and practical information and at the same time can share and or participate in the interactive radio programs in an affordable and fastest way. Local authorities can also have an efficient way of promoting their programs to the people for massive mobilization and participation.   Program managers and implementers can also disseminate and explain new technology and innovations.

It has been observed that Nutriskwela radio stations installed in other parts of the country has proven to empower and mobilize the local people in information sharing. They were aided by the radio to share their nutrition situation at home and in the whole community thereby highlighting good nutrition practices.

In their messages during the launching, both NPC Ma. Eileen B. Blanco and Mayor Rodolfo L. Garcia committed full support to sustain the project. Mayor Garcia expressed his appreciation as he recognized the support of the National Nutrition Council and MQ Media Zone for providing Burgos, Ilocos Norte with a radio station to share and disseminate relevant, correct, up-to-date health and nutrition messages to all Burgueňos and nearby municipalities through Radyo Karruba.
