The Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony to recognize respective winners in the annual search for the outstanding nutrition program implementers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars was successfully undertaken at the Oasis Country Resort, Sevilla, City of San Fernando, La Union on December 6, 2013.

Ms. Geraldine R. Ortega, Chairman of the Board of the La Union Vibrant Women Inc. (LUVWI) graced the occasion as this year’s Guest of Honor and Speaker. She commended the commitment of the nutrition workers, BNSes, and the local nutrition committees in doing their best and who worked selflessly to help address hunger and malnutrition in their respective areas.

The following Outstanding Local Government Units were recognized during the event:

1. Bangui, Ilocos Norte as the Provincial Green Banner Awardee of Ilocos Norte and the Regional Outstanding Municipality in Region I.
2. Batac City as the Regional City Green Banner Awardee
3. San Vicente, Ilocos Sur and Burgos, La Union as the Provincial Green Banner Awardees, and
4. Vigan City for the CROWN 1^st Maintenance Awarde

Ms. Sharon A. Tablada of Brgy. Barraca, Vigan City was awarded as this year’s Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS). BNSes Ruby Jane A. Gumanlaoi of Barangay Utol, Bangui, Ilocos Norte and Amelita F. Dahuya of Barangay Acosta, Batac City were also recognized as the  1^st Runner Up and 2^nd Runner Up respectively for the Search for the Regional Outstanding BNS.
