Dagupan City- As one of the planned activities for the year of the Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates (RONDA) with the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters ng Pilipinas (KBP), Pangasinan Chapter and the National Nutrition Council, Regional Office I conducted a barangay outreach program. Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City was targeted as the area for this project and it was held at the Barangay Gymnasium on December 3, 2013.

The one-day event served as a venue to generate the active participation of the local media practitioners in the region as channels for disseminating the Promotion of Good Nutrition to the beneficiaries which was attended by pregnant/lactating women, mothers of underweight children, Barangay Health Workers and barangay officials led by Brgy. Chairman Ricardo Mejia. Lectures about malunggay “the miracle food” including a livelihood orientation on malunggay were discussed by Dr. Elmer Vingua and Ms. Rosie Cabantac of Moringaling Philippines Foundation, Inc.

A ceremonial planting of malunggay cuttings infront of Sabangan Elementary School  spearheaded by Ms. Rose Lulu P. Pagaduan, OIC-Nutrition Program Coordinator  of NNC Region I together with Pres. Bernie R. Errasquin, RONDA Chairman,  Mr. Jay D. Mendoza, Chairman, KBP Pangasinan  and other RONDA Members was held as a highlight of the barangay outreach.

The event finally ended with the distribution of Fortified Food products and Hygiene Kits to  all participants who joined the program.
