9San Fernando City, La Union- The 2012 Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) was successfully launched at the Sea & Sky Hotel  on September 23, 2013 by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Regional Office I headed by Ms. Rose Lulu P. Pagaduan,  OIC-Nutrition Program Coordinator and all stakeholders of LUPangIlocos region.

The NGF consists of ten (10) primary recommendations to promote good health through proper nutrition. The messages include both food-based and behavior-driven guidelines to address current nutritional and dietary concerns. The goal of the NGF is the improvement of the nutritional status, productivity and quality of life of the population, through adoption of desirable dietary practices and healthy lifestyle.

A ribbon cutting of the Exhibit on the10  NGF Messages and ceremonial signing of the Pledge of Commitment for its promotion and advocacy was held.  The members of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC), the Regional Nutrition Planning and Evaluation Team (RNPET), the Regional League of Nutrition Action Officers, Region I, Inc., the Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates (RONDA) or the local media group of Region I, the Provincial and City Nutrition Action Officers (P/CNAOs), the District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPCs) and the LUPang Ilocos BNS Fedration Inc. witnessed the event.  Assistant Regional Director,  Benito F. Arca  of DOH-Center for Health Development I served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the occasion.

The advocacy campaign through the “EXPO” was believed to be the start of the widest dissemination of the NGF in the region in order to improve the nutritional status of the Ilocanos and Pangasinenses through proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices.
