Ms. Marcelina Macaraeg, BNS, Brgy. Bacnono, Bayambang, Pangasinan- BNS Macaraeg previously was a BHW for nine (9) years in Barangay Bacnono, Bayambang. She started her journey as a BNS in the year 2017 and is a very active BNS until today.

Her best practices included: being present in all center days and all barangay activities; being proactive in performing duties; with complete BNS documents; always teaching/coaching her co-workers and beneficiaries.

As a BNS, she makes sure that all nutrition/nutrition-related programs are being implemented in their barangay including the conduct of Dietary Supplementary Feeding Program; conduct of Mother’s Classes, monitoring of Pregnant and Lactating Women, and monitoring of chicken for livelihood component of ECCD F1K Program and backyard gardening; conduct of OPT Plus with monthly monitoring; Promotion of Breastfeeding and IYCF; Referrals for Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition; Distribution of multivitamins, RIMO and MNP; regular monitoring of vitamin A fortified flour used in bakeries and cooking oil sold in retail stores; monitoring of the nutritional status of daycare and elementary pupils; surveying for NEWS; Nutrition Month Celebration, etc.

Her experiences as a BNS are wonderful because of the many learnings. Since she did not finish school, she loves to learn and is thankful because she is learning a lot as a BNS and her job gives her a sense of fulfillment because, despite her age, she is an instrument in helping a lot of children/beneficiaries.
