The National Nutrition Council-Regional Office I (NNC-ROI) joined the Department of Health- Regional Office I in its provincial launching of the High Impact 5 (HI5) Summit held at Mahogany Farm Barangay, Bayambang, Pangasinan; Plaza del Norte, Laoag City; Vigan Convention Center, Vigan City and Oasis Country Resort, San Fernando City, La Union on June 9, 11, 16 and 18, 2015, respectively.
The HI5 is the DOH strategy in achieving the goals of the Kalusugang Pangkalahatan (KP) which addresses the gaps and challenges on health inequities of the Filipinos.
The provincial launching aims to enjoin partners and stakeholders from the different Local Government Units (LGUs), non-government and private sectors in the provinces and municipalities of the region, ensuring their commitment on the 15-months strategy to address elements of Millenium Development Goals 4, 5 and 6 focusing on Maternal care, Infant Care, Care for under-five children, HIV/Aids prevention and control and establishment of functional service delivery network that will prioritized the poor.
Assistant Secretary of Health Maria- Bernardita T. Flores, Executive Director IV of the National Nutrition Council represented Health Secretary Janette Loreto- Garin in Ilocos Sur while Dr. Enrique Tayag, PopCom Executive Director Juan Antonio Perez III and Undersecretary Vicente Belisario in Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte and La Union, respectively.
The Department of Health- Regional Office I presented its strategies in ensuring the effective and efficient Hi5 implementation whereas invited LGUs presented their best practices on health governance where other areas can replicate.
The launching activity is one among the lined-up events of the DOH in ensuring and bringing quality health care services among the poorest of the poor in Region I.
