Baguio City-- The National Nutrition Council-Regional Office I successfully conducted the simultaneous Training on Nutrition Program Management (NPM) and the Training of Trainers on the Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) on August 24-28, 2015 held at Hotel Supreme, Magsaysay Ave., Baguio City. Twenty Eight (28) City/ Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (C/MNAOs) and representatives coming from the different LGUs in the region and Twenty Nine (29) C/MNAOs and Barangay Nutrition Scholars attended the training on NPM and BNS, respectively.
Ms. Ma. Eileen Blanco, Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC-ROI spearheaded the conduct of the training on NPM together with Ms. Elma Irapta, PNAO of Ilocos Norte, Ms. Analiza Miranda, DNPC of Pangasinan, Mr. Joel Junsay, DNPC of Baguio City, Ms. Nancy Paclos, Nutrition Officer II and Ms. Tiffany Joy Penera, Nutrition Officer I of NNC-ROI. On the other hand, Mr. Kendall Gatan, Nutrition Officer III of NNC spearheaded the training of trainers for BNS Basic Course together with Ms. Estella Shayne Quinto, PNAO of Ilocos Sur, Ms. Jennie Apilas, DNPC of La Union, Ms. Christina Caroy, DNPC of Ilocos Norte, Ms. Gretchen Nisperos, Nutrition Officer I and Ms. Ma. Victoria Dela Cruz, Administrative Aide VI of NNC-ROI.
Ms. Blanco said in her message during the joint opening ceremony that the training on NPM aims to enhance the capacity of our local nutrition workers particularly on managing nutrition program at the local level while the Training of Trainers on the Basic Course aims to capacitate the participants to train BNSs to have common basic knowledge and skills as well as core values and traits that are necessary to perform their roles and functions efficiently.
“We should work together, converge all our efforts, intensify our nutrition advocacies and manage our nutrition programs efficiently and effectively to help contribute in the eradication of all forms of malnutrition in the region,” she added.
All participants received their certificate of completion after the training.
