The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region 2 launched the “Batang Radyo sa Nutrisyon” program, February 7, 2016 at DWPE – Radyo ng Bayan, Tuguegarao City with the cooperation of the Batang Radyo members of Tuguegarao East Central School and Tuguegarao West Central School.
The launching was also participated by the different government agencies who were members of Nutritional Coordinating Committee (RNC) for the region through their Regional Technical Assistant of Nutrition (RTAN). The Batang Radyo program aired every Sunday from 12:30pm to 1:00pm.
The program objective is to maximize the broadcasting skills of elementary student while creating awareness on nutrition among school children and general populace.
The launching started with a short program for briefing and orientation then followed by the actual radio programming.
The Batang Radyo members were oriented on the proper use of console by Ms. Teresa Campos, DWPE broadcaster and Member of Balay ni Ifan media group. Then the program started formally with a prayer, followed by a welcome message of Ms. Vivian De Guzman, DWPE representative and radio broadcaster.
Nutrition Program Coordinator Rhodora Maestre briefly gave an overview of the Batang Radyo sa Nutrisyon, emphasizing its objective and importance using children in educating the public on good nutrition envisioned to address malnutrition prevalence rate in the region.
Following the briefing of NPC Maestre, the DepEd representative through Mr. Ferdinand Narciso gave their commitment and full support on the radio program. He even emphasized that they will personally monitor school canteens in the region if they are selling nutritious foods for the students.
The launching ended with an actual radio programming with NPC Maestre as the resource person and the Batang radio members of Tuguegarao East Central School acting as anchors and broadcasters which contribute to its success.
The radio nutrition program will also be established next in the province of Quirino in the next few days to saturate the information dissemination and campaign to promote good nutrition.
