City of Ilagan, Isabela -- Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Ubial surprised city officials and residents of Ilagan when she personally attended the ceremonial opening of a drug rehabilitation facility here on Tuesday, June 6, 2017.
“The newly opened Treatment Rehabilitation Center is a partnership between the City Government of Ilagan and the Department of Health. “The space where the building stands was provided by the city government, including a one-kilometer paved access road,” according to City Mayor Mudz C. Diaz, who is a Registered Physical Therapist and a Nurse.
Located at Barangay Centro San Antonio, the DoH-TRC is now operational with resident doctor, nurses and counsellors attending the needs of drug dependents. The facility is managed by DoH-R02.
Mayor Mudz added that while Ilagueños believe that sports is the No. 1 antidote to the drug menace, city officials realized there is still a need to provide rehabilitation to those who are already victims of addiction.
The city has spent millions to promote athletics by building a multimillion-peso sports complex and supporting the “sports track” in high school education. Mayor Evelyn C. Diaz also worked hard to bring international competitions here recently by hosting the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association 2017 last March 27 to April 2.###
