The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) of Cagayan Valley Region had their 2nd Quarter RNC Meeting last June 19, 2014 at Las Palmas de San Jose Hotel and Restaurant, Tuguegarao City. Nutrition Program Coordinator Rhodora G. Maestre presided the said meeting. Regional Technical Assistants for Nutrition, Provincial/ City Nutrition Action Officers (P/CNAOs) and Nutrition Officers were present during the meeting. Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) representative of DSWD and staff of Health and Emergency Management (HEM) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) were also in attendance.

The meeting highlighted the organization of Regional Nutrition Cluster and 40th Nutrition Month Celebration. Results of the 2014 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation and Barangay Nutrition Scholar Evaluation were also presented.

With the theme “Kalamidad Paghandaan: Gutom at Malnutrisyon agapan,” the RNC planned to make use of local media in celebration of the 40th Nutrition Month. In order to provide a venue for the general public to realize the importance of preparedness during emergencies, the RNC Cagayan Valley Region will produce an infomercial on nutrition in emergencies that will be aired in various radio stations in the region.

Likewise, launching of the Nutrition Month will be conducted through a tele-radyo interview dubbed as “Agenda ng Bayan." The said program is a collaboration of DWPE- Radyo ng Bayan- Tuguegarao City and RBC Cable Master System. The tele-radyo interview scheduled on July 1, 2014 will involve NPC Maestre and Regional Directors of Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Office of Civil Defense.
