Cauayan City, Isabela, July 16 (PIA)--The City Nutrition Office here proposed that there should be reserved seats for lactating mothers in all passenger buses here.
“We want all passenger buses to reserve special nursing seats considering the inconvenience that lactating mothers may feel when they need to feed their babies on a bus,” City Nutrition Officer Mary Jane Yadao said.
Yadao said their proposal is really beneficial for breastfeeding mothers as they need to feed their babies every 2 to 4 hours.
“If they are on the bus for hours, it is then necessary for the bus company to provide a quiet, safe and private space for them,” the city nutrition officer said.
At present, only the management of the Dalin Liner Incorporated bus company in this city has complied with the proposal.
Yadao praised the bus company for their prompt action, saying such move is not only to provide quality service to their customers but also to promote and encourage breastfeeding.
“We are hoping that more bus companies will adhere to our proposal,” Yadao added. (ALM/MGE/PIA-2/Isabela)
