ENRILE, Cagayan, PIA) - - Members of the “Balay ni Ifan Media Core Group” based in Cagayan celebrated their group's 10th founding anniversary with the children and mothers of Barangay Lanna, this town.
The media group, which was established in 2009 by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) region 2, was tasked to help advocate hunger mitigation program and encourage local officials to implement programs that will address malnutrition in their respective areas of responsibility.
Maria Gisela Lonzaga, nutrition program coordinator, said the “Balay ni Ifan” has been an effective partner of NNC in educating the public, especially the mothers on proper infant and young child feeding, and also on proper diet, food choices and health consciousness among individuals.
“The Ifan media group served as the mouthpiece of the NNC in disseminating various information and programs related to the eradication of malnutrition in our region. It has contributed a lot in improving nutritional status of the people in Cagayan Valley,” Lonzaga said.
Teresa Campos, broadcaster of DWPE-Radyo Pilipinas and one among the senior members of the Balay ni Ifan, presented the evolution of the media group from a mere advocates to monitors of nutrition program implementations in schools and in Local Government Units.
“We are really happy that we are celebrating our 10th year with you. This is also a celebration of success of the Cagayan Valley region on the attainment of our goals to improve our nutrition program which is proven by the increased in the education and awareness of the public,” Campos said.
