CITY OF ILAGAN, ISABELA--------The National Nutrition Council-Cagayan Valley and Balay ni IFAN Media Grouo will release the 14th issue of the InFormation About Nutrition (IFAN) magazine which highlights the region’s nutrition efforts amid the widespread of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19).
With the continuous success of its annual issue of the IFAN magazine released semestrally the NNC-R02 deemed it proper to continue with its publication. Considering also the wide acceptance of IFAN among the reading public, it had served as a very effective and efficient mode of delivering nutrition information in all corners of the region.
The 14th issue now focuses on the nutrition efforts of all Local Government Units, Regional Line Agencies and other nutrition stakeholders to continue in the delivery of nutrition interventions and other strategies even on during the widespread of COVID-19 in the region.
According to NPC Maria Gisela Lonzaga of NNC-R02 and Editor-in-chief of the IFAN magazine, the 14th release is to inform the public that nutrition program and services is very vital especially during the Covid 19 pandemic.
“This issue of the magazine centers on the courageousness of health and nutrition volunteers like the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) in the delivery of basic health and nutrition services to the community in these trying times. Despite the health risks covid 19 posts, the BNSs perform their duties and responsibilities with passion and enthusiasm worthy of recognition in this IFAN magazine.,” Lonzaga added.
On the other hand, RNC Chair Dr. Rio Magpantay of the Department of Health Region 02 expressed his gratitude for the positive acceptance of the various partners and agencies on the annual issue of IFAN. He also noted that with its success, it is imperative to continue with the publication of IFAN. Further, he acknowledged the efforts of the NNC R02 and Balay ni IFAN in featuring BIDA Solusyon of DOH in the recent issue of IFAN Magazine.
“The unprecedented onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic has given to our health system, an insurmountable amount of challenges. It has cost lives, jobs, and economies in its wake and has caused unparalleled devastation around the world. And although it is a novel disease in the infectious world, a major intervention to its prevention remains basic to its core in the context of proper nutrition. Out of all the information we have on preventing COVID-19, maintaining a person’s optimum health through proper and adequate nutrition remains a primary strategy in keeping the disease at bay. With such as a universal message, we would like to amplify the importance of nutrition in this time of the pandemic through the “BIDA Nutrisyon Kontra COVID-19 Revolution”,” Director Magpantay said.
IFAN is the official and annual publication of NNC-R02. It contains the latest news, events, activities, programs, projects and information on nutrition. It is a collaborative effort of the Regional Nutrition Committee, NNC-R02, and the Balay ni Ifan Media Group, an organization of media practitioners in the region from the radio, television, and print media who helps the NNC-02 in its information advocacy towards the promotion of good nutrition.####JNLB
