NAGTIPUNAN, Quirino, (PIA)—As the local government re-opened some of its tourism destinations for the residents of Quirino, it also opened its latest offering - the agri-tourism which features the “pick and pay” at the Landingan Viewpoint Garden.
Aside from enjoying the 360-degree panoramic view of the municipality, visitors can now pick fresh and organic vegetables such as pechay, eggplant, tomato, sili etc, and pay reasonable prices.
The vegetables were planted by the farmers and the women’s organization of Landingan and nearby barangays.
Mayor Nieverose Camma Meneses said she wants to sustain food sufficiency, provide livelihood to the Nagtipuneros and at the same time boost the tourism industry in the municipality.
“Sa pinagsamang lakas ng turismo at agrikultura o agri-tourism, hangad ng LGU Nagtipunan na magbukas ng mga bagong oportunidad para mas kumita pa ang mga Nagtipunero na kalaunan ay makakatulong sa lalo pang pag-usbong ng ekonomiya ng bayan,” Meneses said.
The municipal mayor also said the “Gulayan sa Landingan” has been developed as a learning site Nagtipuneros can acquire more farming skills.
“We are now harnessing agri-tourism in the municipality not only because of its potential as a revenue source, but most importantly, we aim to create more opportunities for our local farmers,” Meneses added.
As of press time, the municipality’s tourism destinations such Siitan Nature Park, Diamond Cave, Landingan Viewpoint, Gawagan River Park and other places continue to trend in social media. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
