Tuguegarao City------ Balay ni IFAN warmly welcomed and oriented its new members from different community radio stations in the region during the 1st Quarter Balay ni IFAN Meeting, s. 2021, on 19 February.
Ms. Teresa Campos, Broadcast Program Producer Announcer II and one of the pioneer members of Balay ni IFAN Media Group, discussed the history and concept behind the Balay ni IFAN media group, giving some backgrounds to the new members of the said organization.
“Balay ni Ifan, as a media campaign advocacy, is both a strategy and a battlecry, designed and conceptualized by members of the Cagayan multi-media group including radio, and television broadcast, print and government information agencies,” she emphasized during the orientation.
She stressed that this is also a way of the NNC R02 to involve all platforms of media to ensure wider and greater number of public that will be informed and reached with nutrition information.
She then shared to the new members the activities that members of Balay ni IFAN media group are undertaking. The radio broadcast caters to the airing of dramas in nutrition with Filipino, Ybanag and Ilocano versions, nutrition messages and tips, interviews, radio features, nutrition commentaries and special field reports while television broadcast covers all nutrition projects and programs geared toward the Promotion on Good Nutrition. On the other hand, the print media provides newspaper space for nutrition columns, news releases including editorials and photo stories.
To ensure that all members are actively participating in the endeavours of the media group, the members monitor each other’s media activities.
“I am very glad and happy of the continuous expansion of our media group. Balay ni IFAN is one of the oldest nutrition media group in the country, as it was organized in 2009. With all the group’s efforts, you are contributing not only in the reduction of malnutrition in the region but also in ensuring that the general public is well informed about nutrition,” happily expressed by Ms. Maria Gisela M. Lonzaga, Nutrition Program Coordinator-NNC R02.
The new members coming from DWRL-Lal-lo, Cagayan, DWTS 99.5 FM Sta. Teresita, Cagayan and DWNS 96.5 NVSU, Nueva Vizcaya pledged their active participation and cooperation specially in the dissemination of nutrition related information in their respective community radio stations.
Today, there is a total of 32 members of the Balay ni IFAN media group from its 13 original members when it started 12 years ago. This year the Balay ni IFAN media group will conduct various activities in partnership with NNCR02. ###JNLB
