TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN----- The National Nutrition Council Region 02 conducted its 1st quarter virtual monitoring of Radyo Kalugaran Nutriskwela Community Radio Network in Claveria, Cagayan on 11 March 2021.
During the virtual monitoring visit, the National Nutrition Council found out that the Radyo Kalugaran is now operating for 18 hours from its usual 17 hours, increasing airing time for nutrition information in the locality. As per National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued permit, the station should at least operate for 15 hours daily from Mondays-Fridays. However, the station continuously operates from Mondays to Sundays due to increase in staff and manpower support of the station through the help of their local government unit.
It was also noted that there was an increased budget for Radyo Kalugaran. From Php 200,000.00 in 2019, the budget went up to Php 350,000.00 in 2020 and increased of more or less Php 400,000.00 this year. As a result, the radio station now has additional three (3) employees that assist in the operations of the station.
It was also shared during the virtual monitoring that the radio personnel and LGU department heads now actively participate in the radio programming.
“Mas nagiging cooperative na ang mga Department Heads. Pati na rin sa recording ng aming canned programs or production ay umaatend na sila. Mas nasisigurado nang may maair na developmental plugs or programs during their scheduled time slots,” Ms. Juliet Attiagan, MNAO and Station Manager, emphasized during the virtual monitoring.
The virtual monitoring also found out that the LGU has procured additional mixer, headphones and microphones for the station. It also provided additional cable internet to strengthen the live streaming capabilities of the station. Now, the station reached wider audience in the virtual world due to live streaming.
These positive notes and findings were all because of the quarterly continuous virtual monitoring of the NNC R02 to check and assess the problems and other needs of the station.
The LGU Claveria pledged for the continuous support and improvement of the station at it helps their constituents to be updated on developmental and nutritional programs and information. ###JNLB
