Members of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) and MQ mediazone production oriented its core staff of the soon-to-be launched 1st nutriskwela community radio station in the province.
The nutriskwela community radio station is part of the award of Batanes for having achieved the 2011 National Honor Award from the National Nutrition Council (NNC).
The P500,000 award was received last November 9 by Gov. Vicente S. Gato and Dr. Roel Nicolas, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) concurrent provincial health officer II.
The equipment for the nutriskwela radio station is expected to arrive in Batanes this month.
The provincial government and the provincial nutrition council (PNC) attended the orientation conducted by NNC to the five core staff: the manager, technician, program manager, announcer and writer.
On February 26-28, RNC will be in Batanes to conduct area based training to the major personnel.
The community radio station will open access to regular information dissemination on nutrition issues and concerns. This would further strengthen the efforts of the provincial government and the provincial nutrition council to disseminate regularly the do’s and ABCs of healthy lifestyle to maintain nutrition consciousness and desirable healthy practices especially in children and across all sectors.
The provincial government and PNC maintains the objectives of the nutrition council to zero-in malnutrition in the province.
